You’d have to be living under some kind of really big rock not to be getting bat-shit crazy excited about the summer Olympics (especially here in Track Town USA, bitches!) So, in related news, I just read something amazing about Beijing on this blog about China’s environmental and energy laws/policies: CLICK HERE - you really must see the accompanying photo, it’s breathtaking.
There are a couple of interesting comments, too … I wonder if any new world records can be set there.
Seriously the best movie I’ve seen in a really really long time. I’m pretty winded from all the homework I’ve been working on for the past 48 hours, but I’ll try to sum up my feelings.
Speed Racer has everything I want from a movie: action, integrity (in the writing and in the characters), family pride, a wee love story, more action, some kick ass music, a definitive bad guy (got his comeuppance, yuh!), a mystery, and a solid heart-pounding finale.
Yes, it’s a family movie. Yes, this means there won’t be any swearing or soft-porn. You’re just going to have to get over it. There were, however, two exciting moments of not-ready-for-prime-time gestures and/or language which I enjoyed nearly as much as the mountain top fight scene. More than a few parents in the theater “oh!”-ed at the screen. Very exciting. Good on yuh, MPAA.
So this is the hi-def version of the Go, Speed Racer, Go! music video, by Ali Dee and Deekompressors. Let it load a bit before playing - the quality is super effing good so it’s seriously worth the wait, if you’re into that sort of thing. The playback is very choppy if you just try to play it straight though.
(Instructions for the internet challenged: Hit the big play button in the middle, then go down and hit the pause button. Wait for the little gray place marker line thingy to get at least to the middle of the video - or even all the way to the end - before hitting play again.)
Also, for whatever reason, the whole thing is like eleven minutes long… but you can just stop the playback at 3:16-ish when the video’s over.
This is one of my favorite movies of all time. I was pretty stoked to find this on youtube since itunes won’t let me just get just this song. Amazon either.
I actually can’t watch this movie because it’s so sad. I can only watch the first half.
