Stu and I have engaged in a lot of fanatical cheering for Detroit and the also the Mets in the past few weeks. The Mets lost to St. Louis, but the Detroit Tigers put a Manwich sized hurtin on the Spawns of Satan New York Yankees. Much uber joyful fist pumping ensued and then Detroit went on to sweep Oakland. Cake. Yankee killing Tigers are golden.

So now, this World Series between Detroit and St. Louis has been a little tighter than expected. It was said before the series started that whoever won the right to play against the Tigers in the World Series was simply winning the right to lose it to them. The Cardinals are leading the series 2-1 and the predictions now are a little less self-gratifying for Detroit fans. Cardinal fans are happy, though (here’s one), and it made me realize something.

The only reason I give a crap about Detroit winning is because they wuped the Yankees. Also, they kind of deserve it, being so young and from Detroit and everything. But mainly, they beat the Yankees. Truthfully, the St. Louis Cardinals could win every game left in this series and that would be fabulous. Y’know why? Because they are not the Yankees. You know what I’m talking about.
