According to Cassidy (via my own special way of imparting my opinion to her):
“God is not a bad word. God is a good word. But sometimes, if you say ‘Oh my God’, it will freak people out. So you can say ‘Oh my gosh’ instead.”
We got Happy Feet from Netflix yesterday and since we’re on Spring Break we get to watch movies whenever we want. So, we were all settling down to watch it while the previews rolled. The high-impact Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix trailer came on and I, being a colossal nerd, breathed “It’s the new Harry Potter,” and was glued to the tv. Cassidy, being my progeny, was just as enthralled and when it was over she asked incredulously, “Did I watch that movie before?”
“No, punkin,” Stu answered calmly. “That’s for the new Harry Potter that isn’t even in the theater yet,” he eyeballed me like the freak that I am.
Cassidy was stunned and snapped her gaze to me. “Oh … My,” wait for it … see the wheels turning in her mind, coming to a critical decision, “God.”

Kids are the most sensible beings. She clearly knows that Harry Potter is of a divine status and deserves some holy recognition. More importantly, she has no idea you’re a geek. Enjoy it while it lasts. Cristian is starting to suspect things but I think I’m safe for another year or two. Marcos knew I was a geek the moment he popped out but Raul outshines me so I miss the bulk of the comments.
Anyway, I adore Cassidy’s free spirit and total utter intelligence. Rock on, little mama!

Thanks, Nicole. I have yet to witness a disapproving Marcos eye-roll. I can’t wait. Ha ha.
